Waga Energy was founded in January 2015 in Grenoble, France by engineers from Air Liquide. The company draws on its unparalleled gas engineering know-how to develop biomethane injections projects serving the energy transition.
Waga Energy employs 70 people and possesses all of the skills required to design, build, and operate landfill gas recovery, upgrading, and grid-injection projects — including project financing, design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and biomethane sales to gas utilities.
Waga Energy is based in Meylan, near Grenoble, France — a world-renowned center for high-tech innovation with a reputation for leadership in gas engineering and cryogenics. Waga Energy also has a US subsidiary in Philadelphia.

Chief executive officer
Engineer graduated from Centrale Marseille, Mathieu has a unique expertise in the biomethane sector and a strong experience in business development. He started the biogas activity for Air Liquide and built the first anaerobic digestion plants in France. Mathieu is a permanent member of French government biomethane working group since 2009.
Chief Technology Officer
Material engineer graduated from UTC Compiègne, Nicolas is know as an industrial gas plant expert. After a successful experience at Technip, he joined the biogas team at Air Liquide, heading industrialization and standardization of biogas plants. In charge of the development of membrane scrubbers, he started the first anaerobic digestion plant in France.
Chief R&D Officer
Guénaël graduated from Arts et Métiers ParisTech and the gas process engineering school IFP. He worked on the regasification process startup of the LNG terminal at Fos (France) for Sofregaz. He joined Air Liquide as a process expert and designer for cryogenic and biogas plant. He was in charge of the development of cryogenic processes and product manager for helium liquefiers.
VP Marketing and Sales
Lawyer, economist and MBA graduated, Marco has 30-years’ experience in the environmental industry (waste, water, soil, energy) as managing director of business units at Veolia, Paprec, and EnGlobe Soil Remediation. He has been boards member of several companies and organizations in France, the UK, Canada, Italy, Morocco and Israel.
Chief operating officer
Graduated from Arts et Métiers ParisTech and IUT Montpellier, Guillaume is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the WAGABOX® units. He worked previously for the French gas grid operator GRTGaz, and was then in charge of maintenance of offshore oil rigs for Doris Engineering.
Chief Financial Officer
Marie-Amélie graduated from GEM business school. She was in charge of accounting control for the France and EMEA affiliates of the mining group Rio Tinto before joining the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) to apply her expertise to the field of innovation.
