Waga Energy digitises management of the Arbois site with eLandfill

17 Giugno 2025

The Aix Marseille Provence metropolitan authority has entrusted Waga Energy with the management of biogas from the Arbois non-hazardous waste storage facility.

Waga Energy’s mission is to regulate the site’s degassing network and recover the gas via cogeneration engines to produce renewable electricity. When the WAGABOX® unit is commissioned, the biogas will be purified to produce biomethane, which will be injected into the local distribution network.

The aim of monitoring and adjusting the degassing network is to optimise biogas capture while ensuring stable, high-performance operation of the recovery tools. In particular, this approach aims to maintain an effective vacuum at the degassing wells, limit odour nuisance and greenhouse gas emissions, and guarantee a gas quality that complies with recovery specifications, thereby reducing unplanned shutdowns and extending the life of the equipment.

The program is based on regular site visits: every week, priority wells are inspected and adjusted, while more comprehensive checks are carried out every fortnight and every quarter.

To facilitate this monitoring, Waga Energy has equipped itself with the eLandfill digital platform. This solution enables measurements and observations recorded during adjustment campaigns to be imported, measurements to be logged and the state of the network to be displayed using mapping tools. All the measurements, observations and actions are centralised to provide a global and continuous view of the network’s performance.

eLandfill enables monthly reporting to be formalised and shared with the local authority and the various stakeholders concerned, with dedicated access, while guaranteeing the security and traceability of the information.

eLandfill can also be used to integrate topographical surveys, operating changes and measurements of diffuse emissions, providing a comprehensive tool for environmental management of the site.

This new system marks an important stage in the improvement of biogas management at the Aix-en-Provence site, combining technical rigour, digital innovation and environmental commitment.
