In operation since February 14, 2017 at the Coved landfill in Saint-Florentin, France, the first WAGABOX® was officially inaugurated on Thursday, April 20, 2017 by Bruno Léchevin, President Ademe, Stéphane Leterrier, Coved Environnement COO, and Edouard Sauvage, GRDF CEO. More than 170 people attended the event.

WAGABOX® is the first purification unit dedicated to landfill gas. Designed, built and operated by Waga Energy, it produces pure biomethane, which is injected directly into the natural gas grid.

The WAGABOX® will deliver 20 GWh of renewable gas per year, supplying 3,000 households .

The WAGABOX® project was supported and accompanied by the French Energy Agency ADEME as part of the French government’s economic stimulus program.
